Created as a gift for Tainá's older sister, "The Eldest Daughter" is a short story about the emotional journey of adulthood and the process of learning how to find our way even when we've already left our childhoods behind. It's the perfect example of art that originates from a personal perspective and grows beyond that into something that speaks to the emotions of many.

"Princess Boy" is a story about acceptance and community. Illustrated by Tainá and written by her sister, it was created for a close friend while they recovered from top surgery. It offers a queer-focused metaphor for transness in a fairytale setting. This story is not only about feeling understood– it can help the internal process of healing and integration.
Strange Places & Lost Things

Follow the main character as they search for a place where they won't feel so alone. This mock-up shows two spreads in the finished watercolor art, five spreads in black and white, and the remaining spreads as their storyboards, all at slightly reduced scale from the original intended size (10"x12"). Let the rich colors and textures of the watercolor bring the reader into this fantastical world of fairy tales and airports.

This project is a small book prototype, where you can see the cutouts and page extension that make it a joy to read. When asked to create a project around a font, Tainá felt that ITC Rennie Mackintosh blended so well with the type of fairy tales and fables she grew up with that she created one of her own around the classic fable character – and one of her favorites – the fox.

"How to Be In A Cult" is a small board book with an ironic play between image and word. The playful watercolor art style makes it fun for a younger demographic, while the subject and irony of the content keep it fun for adults.

This online comedy comic tells the silly adventures of super lame superheroes as they navigate social interactions, super lame missions, and working together as a team. Tainá creates it in her free time, using it as an outlet to create art for fun when she needs a break from her more emotionally involved work.
